چکیده

Using enzyme polymorphism at IO loci , genetic variation was analysed in both wi ld and cuiti vated olive growing around the Mediterranean Basin. Twenty five and 21 alle1es were observed in the 333 wild olive trees analysed and in the culti ved materia1 (418 trees) respectively. Twenty one of these alleles were common to the two forms. In addition, in most the situations of sympatry between wild and cultivated olive, the two forrns possessed the same alleles which differed from one area to the other, suggesting the occurrence of elose genetic relationships between these two partners of the same species.

Genetic Relationships between Cultivated and Wild Olive Trees (Olea Europaea L. Var. Europaea and Var. Sylvestris) Based on Nuclear and Chloroplast SSR Markers

The olive is widely cropped in Tunisia where also oleaster trees thrive all around orchards and in natural sites. Little is known on the genetic relationships between the olive crop and oleaster trees in Tunisia. Fifty-two oleaster trees and fifteen cultivars were sampled from Tunisia. SSR genotyping was performed in polyacrylamide gels after fluorescent labeling. We used seven nuclear and two ...

Genome of wild olive and the evolution of oil biosynthesis.

Here we present the genome sequence and annotation of the wild olive tree (Olea europaea var. sylvestris), called oleaster, which is considered an ancestor of cultivated olive trees. More than 50,000 protein-coding genes were predicted, a majority of which could be anchored to 23 pseudochromosomes obtained through a newly constructed genetic map. The oleaster genome contains signatures of two O...

Oleaster oil positively modulates plasma lipids in humans.

The olive tree had been domesticated during the early Neolithic in the Near East, and more than 1000 different cultivars have been identified to date. However, examples of wild olive trees (Olea europaea oleaster) can still be found in the Mediterranean basin. Evidence of oleaster use for oil production can be found in historical and sacred texts, such as the Odyssey, the Holey Koran, and the H...

In Vitro Culture Conditions and OeARF and OeH3 Expressions Modulate Adventitious Root Formation from Oleaster (Olea europaea L. subsp. europaea var. sylvestris) Cuttings

Olea europaea L. subsp. europaea var. sylvestris, also named oleaster, is the wild form of olive and it is used as rootstock and pollen donor for many cultivated varieties. An efficient procedure for in vitro propagation of oleaster was established in this study. A zeatin concentration of 2.5 mg/L was effective to induce an appreciable vegetative growth. Also high rooting efficiency was obtaine...

Origin and History of the Olive

To begin, the methodology followed to reconstruct the origin and history of the olive is presented. The genetic structure (density of alleles across the geographic distribution of individuals) based on allele frequencies of the present oleaster tree in the Mediterranean Basin computed with different methods of comparison with the genetic structure of cultivars grouped based on their geographic ...
